Science : chemistry
As a chemistry student, you will prepare for post-secondary education.  Course content will provide prerequisite information needed for future studies, and a focus on completing math calculations will provide you with a solid foundation in one of the most difficult aspects of chemistry.  Students will also prepare for general college coursework by completing vigourous assignments, practicing time-management skills and personal accountability, and engaging in a challenging curriculum.  Expect to spend several hours preparing for class each week by reading textbook and online assignemnts, practicing math calculations, exploring internet enrichment activities, and completing homework assignments. 

Section Announcements
Technology
Notes, assignments, current grades, class schedules, and other important information will be available on-line and distributed through email.  Students will also participate in web quests, interactive tutorials, and experiment simulations on-line.  Part of the course content, including labs and homework assignemnts, will be delivered via the web.  It is vital that each student maintain computer privelages. 

College-Prep Level Writing
It is expected that all student will use college-prep level writing on all assignments.  Extended response questions should be answered in complete sentences and paragraphs, using clear and concise language and appropriate grammar. 

Academic Integrity
Students are expected to complete their own assignemnts and develop their own ideas.  Any and all forms of plagiarism or cheating will result in zero points being awarded for an assignemtns. Such acts of cheating may include but are not limited to: copying answers from another student, allowing another student to copy your work, using the ideas of another person withour proper documentation

  • 2" 3 ring binder
  • scientific caculator
  • paper and pen or pencil

Extra Credit

Extra Credit assignments will be provided each quarter as enrichment activites for the topics that we are studying.  Bonus point quizzes will be given during the presentation of new material. 

Extra credit assignments will not be issued to make up for late or missing assignments.  Students should not expect to complete extra credit projects at the end of the quarter to improve a failing grade.  Consistency is the key to success in chemistry.

Extra Help
Students may choose to participate in extra help sessions during Intervention period each day.  Students should request a pass at the end of the class period. In some circumstances, students will be required to attend an intervention session.
